The Matrix says:
If you put in a little work, you can get some decent coffee out of a simple drip machine (like a Mr. Coffee). One great upgrade here, is a digital scale for measuring the weight of beans and water. For drip coffee, the best flavor is usually when the amount of water is 15-18 times as much as the coffee. With a scale, you could also opt for a Clever Dripper, which look like a pour-over, but functions like an immersion method, so it will work well even if you don’t have a great grinder.
For better quality, pay attention to the beans. Look for bulk coffee in the grocery store, and grind it yourself in the machines they have there. Even better, you can go to a coffee shop and buy beans that they grind for you.
For better quality without any more work, invest in a better machine: a high-end drip brewer, or go a bit more manual with a French Press.
